Is chiropractic care safe?

Absolutely!
Despite the media’s attempts to show otherwise, Chiropractic care has a remarkable safety record. Chiropractic care is a natural and gentle for of healthcare. If you have any concerns our Chiropractors will be more than happy to discuss these with you. We will always do our best to ensure the adjusting process is as safe and comfortable as possible for you.

Is chiropractic care safe for children?

All Hunter Healthy Spines our chiropractors have been trained at a university level to treat children from newborns to early adulthood. Techniques are modified for the safety and comfort of your child in relation to evidence-based practice.

Published Research has shown that chiropractic, physiotherapy, manual medicine and osteopathy all carry a very rare but material risk (1). To minimise risks, our Chiropractors perform a thorough history and examination of a child before beginning any care. All Chiropractors are trained to modify their approaches to suit the special needs of infants and young children. Our Chiropractors work with your regular GP and will refer to them were necessary.

Many of the techniques used on children by the Chiropractors at Hunter Healthy Spines involve massage, gentle stretching, cranial therapy and the use of a special instrument to apply very low and specific impulses to restore normal spinal motion. Kelly has a special interest and post graduate training in chiropractic neuro-developmental paediatrics which focuses on incorporating specific chiropractic care with brain based activities, exercises and nutrition.

How often would I have to come?

Your care plan is uniquely recommended. Depending on your presentation or condition, you may need an initial phase of care. Your visits may be more frequent at the beginning of your care to get your body functioning better. Once the symptoms settle and the body starts to stabilise, your visits may become less frequent. Our Chiropractors use a variety of tests that give us a lot of information about how the body in functioning at any given time. Chiropractic enhances the body’s ability to heal and respond to stress in our lives. How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care will always be up to you, however our chiropractors will always make recommendations on how to keep you functioning optimally.

What kind of techniques do we use in the office?

Our Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to suit each individual patient. One technique does not work for everyone, therefore we use a mixture of drop piece, SOT, rehabilitation, postural correction, activator and a few others to achieve the best results.

Dr. Kelly uses the SD protocol along with other methods in practice. For more on the SD protocol, please click here.
