What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractors in Australia are nationally registered and regulated healthcare professionals. Chiropractic is a natural, drug and surgery free form of treatment focusing on the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical  disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. In summary, chiropractors focus on the detection and correction of aberrant spinal  function and its subsequent effect on how the nervous system controls and coordinates the body.

Australian chiropractors are highly qualified healthcare professionals who study at university for a minimum of five years. As with other healthcare professions, there are internationally and nationally recognised standards of
qualification to enable practice in Australia and this is part of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.

What to expect at Hunter Healthy Spines

Once you walk through the doors at Hunter Healthy Spines, you will be greeted by our warm and welcoming
chiropractic assistants. Our experienced team will do their very best to make you feel comfortable and provide you with all the information you need to know to have a beneficial time with us at the clinic. There will be a small amount of paperwork to complete to ensure we have all of your details, and then you’ll meet your chiropractor.

Your chiropractor will take the time to talk to you about why you have chosen to seek chiropractic care and  determine if our office is the right place for you.

If our Chiropractic care if right for you, your consultation will begin with a detailed case and health history. This health history will then guide our comprehensive examination including a postural examination, orthopaedic testing, neurological testing and joint and muscle evaluation. Your chiropractor may also refer you for further evaluation including x-rays to provide more information about your specific condition. Combining all of this information allows us a comprehensive understanding of what is going on with your body and your health, and from here we can make specific recommendations.

After your examination, your chiropractor will discuss your proposed care plan and what we need to do to get you healthy again. Depending on your presentation, your chiropractor may start your care immediately. Every case is unique and different.
