What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health care discipline that operates without drugs or invasive medical procedures. Chiropractic is based on 4 premises of health:
1. The body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism.
2. The nervous system is responsible for coordinating the function of every cell, tissue and organ in the body.
3. Subluxations (spinal misalignments) are the number 1 cause of interference with the body’s innate ability to self-heal and self-regulate through the nervous system.
4. Chiropractic is the only healing science responsible for locating and correcting subluxations through the Chiropractic Adjustment, thereby restoring the body’s ability to heal itself.
Our Mission Statement:
“We acknowledge and support the human body's innate healing properties– without the use of drugs or surgery. When the body is functioning at optimum health, it enables us to live the extraordinary life we are designed to live. We provide chiropractic care for every person, every time, from pre-conception and throughout life. We serve with passion, integrity, professionalism, and humility”.

Complimentary Posture and Back Pack checks |
|
In the interests of our children’s health, Gary Smith and Shar Moody, Chiropractors from Hunter Healthy Spines will be conducting complimentary posture and spinal health checks as well as checking children’s back packs at Stockland Green Hills Friday and Saturday April 20 and 21 from 10 am to 2 pm. They will also be available to answer questions regarding spinal health.
Research shows that poor posture can cause headaches, poor concentration, neck and back pain, fatigue and moodiness, reduced nerve function, reduced sports performance and increased chance of injury and poor flexibility. Because of the increase in sedentary activities our children participate in – playing electronic games, computer, TV, studying etc – posture is of vital importance. Also, the quality of a child’s backpack and the way in which they carry it can affect their posture and have long-term repercussions.
There are a number of preventative practices that we can do to look after our spines. The Chiropractor's Association of Australia have published a brochure for children (there's one for adults as well!) which teaches children a simple 3 minute posture exercise program called "Straighten Up Australia". We will be giving out copies of "Straighen Up Australia" at Stockland Green Hills. We are also conducting talks and demonstrations of the Straighten Up Australia program in schools in our area. If you would like us to visit your school, please let us know.
